Step 1: Makeup Remover & Cleanser
Even you don't wear makeup, adopting this routine helps remove and cleanse your skin from excess dirt and oil. Cleansing balms and oil cleanser's do a great job at breaking down and removing debris from sunscreen, make-up and pollutants.
After using make-up removers, it's always good to wash your face once more using facial cleansers. According to aesthetician's and beauty therapist, double cleansing helps address concerns you may have such as acne or dry skin.
However, double cleansing twice a day may dry out your skin. The best solution for this is to adopt it into your evening routine!
Step 2: Exfoliate
Next step, EXFOLIATE!
To achieve a beautiful mochi-like skin, exfoliating is a must-do in your weekly skin-care routine. Exfoliating actively removes dead skin cells and prevents it from clogging your pores.
There are two ways to exfoliate. The first involves abrasive scrubs such as using a towel, brush or sponge to displace dead cells. Another method is by using chemical scrubs which contains granules like microbeads or sugar.
Moreover, exfoliating boosts regeneration of new skin cells, leaving your skin looking fresh and flawless. Therefore, exfoliating your skin once or twice a week helps keep your skin looking brighter and healthier!
Step 3: FACIAL MASK
There are many reason's why you need to apply a face mask into your routine, but one of the main reasons we do it here at Bare Japan is for the pure joy of relaxation!
Besides moisturizing, detoxifying, deep-cleansing and nourishing your skin, facial masks are also very therapeutic and gives you an excuse for that perfect "me" time.
Therefore, you should limit using a facial mask once or twice a week. Avoid exposing to the sun at least 8 hours after application of facial masks.
Step 4: TONER
The next most important step in your skin care routine is toner. After cleansing and exfoliating, and before moisturizing, toner should be applied.
What is toner you asked?
Toner is an absorbing liquid that helps remove the remaining dirt, oil and makeup. It also controls the skin’s PH levels and improves skin tone.
Some toners have antioxidants and skin-repairing substances such as fatty acids, glycerin, and ceramides.
So to keep your skin fresh and glowing, be sure to include a suitable toner into your routine.
Step 5: ESSENCE / SERUM
Essence vs. Serum, which do you prefer? Both these products play a similar role in your skin care routine where they treat fine lines, fight dark spots, and give your skin an overall glow.
One of the main difference is that an essence is less concentrated, lighter in weight and adds an extra layer of hydration after applying a toner.
Compared to essence, a serum is much more concentrated and addresses more specific issues such as whitening pigmentation and fighting fine lines.
Most dermatologist recommend using an essence before applying serum. However, it is not necessary to apply both in your routine.
The rule of thumb is, if you prefer a less concentrated feel, then an essence is probably a better option for you.
Step 6: MOISTURISER
Loss of moisture in the skin can lead to many skin problems such as dryness, wrinkles, sagging skin and fine lines. Therefore, it is important to keep the proper moisture in the skin. If you want to have glowing healthy skin, you should not ignore moisturizing. Depending on your skin type, you can choose a suitable moisturizer by reading the ingredients listed on the labels.
And there you have it! A six step evening skin care routine that will surely give you mochi-like skin!
