Different Types of Face Masks - which is for you?
Let's talk about masks! Beauty face masks! One of our favourite skincare routine on our days off from Bare Japan is putting on a face mask!
It can be done anytime, and pretty much anywhere around the house... even while you're binging your favourite Netflix show! It's relaxing, cooling and of course, a great way to rehydrate our skin and give it the extra TLC it needs.
But, as fun, as it is, choosing the right mask that is effective for your skin type is a challenge. You'd want to select a mask that is best for your skin. Choosing the wrong type of mask can only make your skin feel inflamed and irritated.
So let's take a closer look at the different types of masks that are available in the market today.
Cream & Gel Masks
Ideal for: Normal, Dry / Sensitive Skin
These type of masks are available for both salon and home use. Cream masks are rich in moisture which penetrates deep within skin cells and replenishes dry cells. Gel masks have a cooling effect and are great for sensitive skin that needs extra rehydration.
Ideal for: Oily Skin
A good peel-off mask helps decongest neglected skin. It gently removes dead skin cells and dirt from the pores. There are peel-off masks for brightening, clarifying and exfoliating, depending on the formula and ingredients used. It is important to choose the right peel-off masks as some may contain superglue or other harmful products that may cause irritation to the skin.
Ideal for: Any skin type
Contains the ingredient "Alginate". Alginate is a plastic rubbery substance, which is extracted from brown algae. When dried, such mask is easily removed, leaving the skin moisturized, toned and smooth. It is highly recommended to apply lotion and moisturizer after using a rubber maks as this helps increase the effectiveness of it.
Ideal for: Most Skin Types
Sheet masks are the most popular masks in the market. Because they're liquid-based, these masks are excellent for hydrating. The different types available claim different results from anti-aging to lifting to brightening and etc.
Ideal for: Normal to Dry Skin
Collagen is vital for flawless skin! Unfortunately, as we age, our body produces less collagen. Collagen masks are ideal to make your skin retain its firmness, elasticity and smoothness. A good collagen masks help to activate and nourish skin cells, fight wrinkles and fine lines.
Ideal for: Normal to Oily Skin
A moisturizing clay mask normally restores, and detoxifies skin. If you suffer from breakouts or redness, choose clay masks that contain clarifying enzymes and/ or sulfur. Never forcibly rub your skin to remove stubborn clay residue. Instead, put a warm wet cloth on your skin and let it sit for a minute then gently remove the clay.
No matter which masks you choose, make sure it's the one suitable for your skin type - to keep it looking hydrated, plump, wrinkle-free and blemish-free!
